Test Registration

  1. Discuss your intent to use DOI Service with your ANDS Client Liaison Officer, or contact services@ands.org.au

  2. When you think you are ready to test the service, provide the following information to your client liaison or email them to services@ands.org.au:

    • DOI Account Name - A name for the DOI account. Usually an organisation.
    • IP Address List - A listing of the IP addresses of the machines which will be used to mint test DOIs. Both single IPs and ranges can be submitted in a list by separating them with a comma. Ranges should be specified using a hyphen (192.168.2.0-192.168.2.45) or by the CIDR notation (192.168.2.0/24 ). Note that the list of IP addresses is an optional requirement for registration and is not necessary if you only intend to use the manual minting functionality within My DOIs. For more information see the section on Authentication.
    • Account Contact Full Name - The name of a contact at your site ANDS should contact to discuss DOI related issues.
    • Account Contact Email Address - Email address for the primary contact. Group mailboxes are preferred over personal email addresses as they ensure ANDS has an ongoing contact point if a client's staff member changes role or leaves.
    • Top Level Domains - Comma separated list of top level domains that DOI URLs will be resolved under. Remember DOI URLs must resolve to a public landing page that contains information about the associated dataset and a direct link to the dataset itself.
  3. You will receive a notification from ANDS, either from your client liaison or from IT Services, when your organisation has been registered.
  4. You should receive the following information from us:
    • Your Test App ID (Application ID)
    • Your Test DOI prefix
    • Your Test Shared Secret
    • The technical document to guide you in setting up your Cite My Data client

Upon registration for the DOI service, you will be issued with a testing account. The only DOI prefix that will be allocated to your test account will be the DataCite test DOI prefix (10.5072). DOIs minted using this prefix are registered with Data Cite but are not registered in the global Handle System. For this reason test DOIs are not resolvable. Test DOIs are deleted by DataCite on an irregular basis but normally after a month.

Your test account will remain active allowing you to run separate test and production instances.

Once you and ANDS are satisfied that the service has been successfully implemented and tested, you will need to email services@ands.org.au to have a production account created for you.

Production Registration

When you are ready to start minting production DOIs:

  1. Have  the DOI service participant agreement form signed by an authorised representative of your institution.
  2. Send the signed participant agreement to ANDS:
  3. A scanned copy e-mailed to services@ands.org.au or to your ANDS Outreach Officer.

    • Please remember to complete Schedule A of the agreement.
    • IT Services will need the scanned copy of the signed agreement only in order to switch your registration to production.
  4. If you intend to use IP addresses to authenticate with the DOI service. Request for ANDS (services@ands.org.au ) to add the IP addresses of your production machines to your production account if they differ from your test machines. For more information see the section on Authentication.
  5. You will receive a notification from ANDS, either from your client liaison or from IT Services, when your organisation has been registered.
